Zendesk Explore alternativeA Zendesk Explore alternative for the live wall.
Explore is excellent at historical reporting and BI inside Zendesk. But it isn't built to live on a TV all day — and Zendesk has announced its Explore live dashboards are being removed on 25 January 2027, while its legacy live views time out after 90 seconds of inactivity on an unattended screen. Nexus is the always-on, motivating support wallboard Explore doesn't do — self-hosted, flat-priced, continuously refreshed, and it works on every Zendesk plan, including Team.

Why add Nexus alongside Zendesk Explore
Live, not periodic
20-second calls, 60-second tickets, running forever on a wall. Explore refreshes periodically and its live widgets are limited and plan-gated.
Built for the wall
4K scaling, rotation, themes, ticker and lock mode. Explore is built for analysts at desks, not a screen the whole floor watches.
Motivation built in
Leaderboards, goals, streaks and Agent of the Week — the live motivation layer Explore doesn't have.
Nexus vs Zendesk Explore, feature by feature.
No spin: Explore is genuinely better at some things, and we say which.
| Feature | Nexus | Zendesk Explore |
|---|---|---|
| What it's for | A live wall your whole team watches all day | Historical reporting & BI inside Zendesk |
| Live on a TV | 20s calls · 60s tickets, runs forever on a wall | Periodic refresh; live widgets limited & plan-gated |
| Wall ergonomics | 4K scaling, rotation, themes, ticker, lock mode | Built for analysts at desks |
| Motivation layer | Leaderboards, goals, streaks, Agent of the Week | — |
| Share beyond seats | Client-scoped read-only links — no login needed | Largely seat/plan-bound |
| Hosting & your data | Self-hosted — ticket data never leaves your server | Within the Zendesk cloud |
| Historical BI | Operational trends, not a query builder | Excellent — custom queries, datasets, joins |
| Custom metrics on the wall | Calculated KPIs from a formula, live on the board | Full query builder (for reports, not a live wall) |
Honestly, they're complements. Keep Explore for month-end analysis — it's good at it and you already pay for it. Nexus is the always-on, motivating live wall Explore doesn't do. Most customers run both.

A typical 10-agent desk, per year.
Illustrative, using published positioning as at June 2026. Nexus is a flat add to your existing Zendesk — not a replacement for it.
Where Zendesk Explore genuinely wins
Deep historical BI: Explore does custom queries, datasets and joins Nexus doesn't — keep it for month-end analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
Native to Zendesk: it's already in your Suite, with full access to your historical data model. Nexus reads Zendesk live for the wall; Explore owns the archive.
Nexus vs Zendesk Explore, asked and answered.
Is Nexus a replacement for Zendesk Explore?
Honestly, they are complements and most customers run both. Keep Explore for month-end analysis and ad-hoc reporting — it is good at it and you already pay for it. Nexus is the always-on, motivating live wall Explore was never built to be.
Zendesk is removing Explore’s live dashboards — what should we put on the wall?
Zendesk has announced that Explore live dashboards are being removed on 25 January 2027, and the legacy live views time out after 90 seconds of inactivity, which is fatal on an unattended screen. Nexus is built to run forever on a wall: a 20-second call refresh, 60-second tickets, 4K scaling, rotation, themes and kiosk mode.
Does every viewer need a Zendesk seat to see the board?
No. Nexus is flat-priced with unlimited screens and agents, and Enterprise adds client-scoped read-only links so someone can watch a board without a login at all. Explore access is largely seat- and plan-bound.
Can Nexus show Zendesk Talk calls as well as tickets?
Yes. Nexus reads Zendesk Support and Talk natively, so calls waiting, longest wait and agents on calls appear alongside tickets, SLA countdowns and CSAT, refreshed about every 20 seconds. Without Talk, every other panel still works in full.
Where does Zendesk Explore still win over Nexus?
Deep historical BI — custom queries, datasets and joins that Nexus does not attempt — and being native to your Suite with full access to the historical data model. Nexus reads Zendesk live for the wall; Explore owns the archive.
